Does anyone have a view on the Mavic Aksium Elite wheel set? Not sure what makes them elite but they come with Mavic Yksion tyres, all in, cost about £200.
Alternatively... I could buy Mavic Aksium wheels (£144.00) not elite, with Gatorskins or similar for about the same money. I would appreciate any other variations recommendations for about the same money.
Heavy rider, 105kgs so something robust needed

I am just about to take off standard Aksiums and put on the Aksium Elites minus Yksion tyres that came with them , only difference seems to be the rim width, I would of just bought the standard Aksiums but the Elites were cheaper in the sale at 120 quid including tyres.

I was over 100 kgs myself up to a few months ago and the Aksiums are fine , slight flex when out of the saddle on hills but nothing to worry about , think I am on 3rd or 4th set of aksiums now.

They do need trued from time to time, the non drive spokes twist and loosen but fairly easy to tension them back up again.

Fulcrum 7s and 5s have a max rider weight of 109kg so only just ok.

My 5s have been fantastic....but I think I'm only about 70 kg so not representative to you.
