im after a super strong training wheel, as i keep popping spokes on my aksiums!!!

ive looked at the Roval Pave, Planet x Model C, and also Planet X A57???

the Rovals have 24spokes rear but double walled rims, whereas the planet x's both have 32spokes..........

so, am i better off with more spokes!?

cheers

Why not a 32h Open Pro laced 3x on a suitable hub?

Those Aksiums of yours have been breaking for ages - if they are being re-spoked/tensioned properly, I'd bin them...

AGREED!

...from a good wheelbuilder...

CXP33's not bad either, slightly heavier, slightly cheaper, slightly more aero...
CXP22's, absolutely nuke-proof, the best training wheel available, cos it take so much power to spin it up to speed! I know, I use some on Ultegra hubs, when I put on my lightweight summer Reynolds wheels and PR3's I suddenly go like Lance!

Too cryptic?

Spokes only break with bad luck or bad workmanship.

If the wheels break spokes regularly, I agree with Will - bin them.

I thought the CXP33's were the better one (aero equivalent of Open Pro) and the CXP22 was a more budget rim (aero equivalent of Open Sport).

I have a pair of the Planet X A57 wheels, by the way (mentioned above). They seem very well built and strong. They'd make a good touring or cross wheel I reckon. A bit on the heavy side mind, and I wasn't that impressed with the smoothness of the rear hub unfortunately. Probably just needs slackening off a bit, which I really must get round to doing.....

I'd be tempted to ask a decent local builder to do some for you - you get to tell them how you ride and what you want out of the wheel, and they'll build the wheels to cope.

Agreed, that's what I thought I said, Open Pro's best, then 33's, then the budget heavyweight 22's...

I fancy some CXP33 on Ultegra hubs for 'cross next season. Mind you, the Aksiums have gone 2 seasons and are still in one piece, smooth, and true.
