So I went with a ride with the Gosforth Road Club, it was hard!
About 15 miles in I vomited going up hill  But thats more the fact I barely ate anything and drank only water with lots of lemon. Thankfilly there was road works and the light was on red for a while so that gave me time to recover . About 10 minutes later someone got a puncture so I stopped with them and drank a full bottle of fresh water, when we started again I started gagging a few times, so I stopped for a minute then continued on. The rest of the route wasn't too bad apart from the hills!
The people were friendly at the club though, and occasionally gave my little boosts to keep up my pace.
Once I got back to the coffeeshop I was okay after about 20 mins.
When we got going again I was okay on the flat, but the slightest incline was killing me. We also went on a dual carriageway for a bit, it wasn't scary though, because it was near a 3 lane roundabout which meant everyone was slowing down

I really enjoyed it even though it was HARD.

This has made me realise I need to start training and eat healthily, what would you suggest?
I know a hill which I could go up and down a few times to really push me, but I'm not too sure about eating healthily, I normally just eat whatever I can get my hands on.

Any suggestions for increasing my endurance?

Cheers

Keep drinking, don't just down a full bottle of water. You will have ended up with all that water just sat in your stomach, so its best to keep drinking, sipping the bottle as you go along.
Take it easy on the hills. Go up at your own pace, or if you feel like it, push yourself abit harder and try and keep up with people abit faster then you.
You don't need to train lots in the week to be able to keep up at the weekend, 15-20miles is what i used to do in the week, then do a 50/60miles ride on Sundays.
Then I upped it to doing around 30miles mon-fri, 50/60miles on Sundays. Which was abit too much really.
My route did have a few hills in though, but i was already good at climbing hills, so going up these hills just gave me more practice, and got me faster up them.

Its all about finding your pace up hills:becool:
Keep sipping, and eating if you need.

As for healthy eating, well, best not to talk to me about that. I dont really eat healthy.
I do have a big plate of pasta before a long ride the next day, or a TT, and have either meat like ham, chicken or tuna on it, or just cheese.
I have, however, often gone on long rides and had the left over pizza from the night before, or pasta.
I also eat alot of cake(thanks to my GF!!!) so probably dont eat the perfect healthy diet.

But never mind

Forget the Gvt advice to eat 5 portions of fruit and veg. Eat 9+

And lots of carbs. If you are still growing, you need more protein too.

And all in small portions. Eat often, not loads.

If this doesn't make sense, Google will be your friend.

I dont drink that much really only when I can feel my mouth drying up. Before a long ride I might sip a sports drink within the hour before. Depends on the conditions, like a dry hot day you will sweat alot more so need to replenish. Also depends on how hard your pushing yourself, dont just drink for the sake of it.

I done a hundred mile event yesterday and as it was so drizzly and damp I only drank one full bottle. I did carb-load the day before and drink pre-ride as it was going to be tougher than the average venture out.

(try) Breath through your nose, I find it hard as I had operation when I was 6 on my nose/tonsils but find if I use my nose (inhale) mouth (exhale) helps tremendously!

I recall reading an interview with Sean Yates who was in the Motorola team at the time and how the hard training rides had a similar effect on the newbies who just weren't used to it - one of the newbies was a guy called Lance....
