Put your bike in the car and head to Bracknell Forest. Alternatively, there is some very good forestry between Mortimer and Tadley and although it is public access, it is also privately managed so you would need to check if bikes are allowed. We used to ride XC races there many years ago and the riding there is excellent if you can get in.

Just moved to Basingstoke & have a specialized rockhopper that i haven't used all year...anyone know anywhere good to take it?
There are loads of off-road routes around Basingstoke - check out the Hants CC website for their off-road route guides [http://www3.hants.gov.uk/cycling/cycle-trails.htm] and the CTC North Hants website, [http://www.nhampshirectc.org.uk/] off-road section has a link to a Google Earth KML file with loads of routes on it. That should give you a potential list of local rides.

However with the terrible weather this year most of the trails have been barely rideable due to the mud and it does not look as if it will get better until the Spring unless the ground freezes. If you are looking for all-weather trails at the moment you may have to take your bike further afield - Swinley Forest, the New Forest, QEP or around the sandy trails near Frensham Ponds.

Theres a small route around Worting wood. Its not in good shape, but loads of fun and you can hit 30mph on the best bits. And down around ellisfeild there is a pit of mud that I once got beached in.
