Hi all,

I'm looking for some traffic free routes near Stanmore, NW London. I'm happy to take the car and park it up somewhere, but ideally am looking for a route of about 5 / 10 miles to start with. Any recommendations?

I was thinking of going through Cassiobury Park maybe - that seemed full of cyclists at the weekend (most of whom seemed to ignore the 'dismount now' signs and carry on riding regardless - but hey, it's a park).

Any other ideas? Preferably need a 'loop' so I can get back to where I started. And one that is 'expandable' as I gain in strength and fitness would be good.

Why don't you go on Google Maps and plan some routes using the 'directions' button that way; you can drag routes around until your happy, then you'll get a rough indication of the mileage...

That's what I do anyway...

I don't know if it is a bit too far out for you but the Flitch Way is traffic free, runs along an old railway route so is fairly flat, and you can cycle as much or little of it as you like.

My issue with that is I don't know which routes are traffic free.

I don't mean traffic light, I mean traffic free, as in no cars. Being off a bike for about 20 years, I don't feel confident to just hop onto the manic roads we have round my way
