I was in Woking and thought it was quality. Never seen bike racing in ther flesh before so it was a whole new experience.

Unfortunatley there's quite a few nimbies already voting/commenting on the local papers website. http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/s/2051774_crowds_descend_on_woking_for_cycling_event

It's easy to criticise. If you enjoyed it I'd suggest vote in their online poll or email the paper to give your positive experience. Yes, the traffic was bad but it's put Woking on the map, and thousands turned out to watch. Perhaps the car drivers should've cycled

I saw Evans got quite a lot of TV coverage as the cyclists went up through the victoria arch!

D'oh! I was meaning to go to this, but forgot the date.

Thanks for posting the pics & video clips, Thomas - at least I don't feel like I totally missed out.

Cheers,
Darren

Didn't like it! Don't like very tight, technical courses prefer them to race on the road then end up in a town like Woking for the final sprint. Is this why the British public and our riders don't do well in Europe!

From 'Mr Happy':

Traffic control, where was that then? Do you really think a few black and yellow signs dotted around Woking saying "Bike Event 02.06.09" was sufficient?

These signs had been up for the past few months - what do people want, a personal phone call? If they'd of shut the road to resurface they'd of put the same signs up and people wouldn't of comaplined.

What is the carbon footprint of thousands of cars stuck in traffic I wonder.

LOL!!!! He's worried about the carbon footprint caused by the extra traffic due to the event...yet he drives a car and presumably gets stuck in traffic because of other reasons.

This event will only be remembered as being the day Woking stood still.

What a load of tossh!

I do think Woking could of done a better job of promoting it though - it was quite a fun day out.

It's back in Woking on 24 June 2010. This time it's the final.
It should be a good day with lots going on throughout the afternoon in the lead-up to the race.
