Hi, Anyone back from the long ride yet? If you did the long version, how did you find the 3 mile climb just before Crickhowell?
Well it nearly killed me on the short route, not even the < 50mph descent to Llangattock could make up for it!

I "tried" the supposed 118 mile long route and died on that hill!

I did the 96 mile route. I had my 'low' around the 60 mile mark but picked up towards the end. That hill before Crickhowell wasn't as bad as the horror with the feed station at the top. Some people were walking up that bad boy.

The last section back to Abergavenny went on a bit, didn't it?

Got in a good group for the last section and there was plenty of quality banter and swearing every time the road went up a bit (i.e. approximately 53 times in the last 5 miles.).

I liked the climb up beaufort road, much better than the never ending up and down around the sugerloaf.

loved the decent down to crick, it's better than in the car, and no braking needed until crossing the canal for the last time.

my first sportive and quite fun, i played safe with 60 miles and it being a area i grew up in and folks still live in, though the 6 miles back up the valley to my folks place was quite slow...
