I didn't but I saw some of yesterday's stage, which featured a storm which felled trees across the road, sprinkled the road with large branches, and pelted the riders with giant hailstones. Also a bit of commentary about one of the giant helicopter-visible displays in a field: "Oh, it's the Pope. Bless his pants."
Hardly in the hilarious category, not even mildly amusing; a rider thought he had won the sprint to take the victory, not realising a breakaway rider had already crossed the line.
Great win from the young Czech, didn't look like he had any chance ar 30k to go but the closer to the finish it got the better it was looking. Very surprising that Matthews didn't know he was still up the road.
As for the fallen trees and hailstones on stage 1, can't believe they didn't neutralise the race for a period like they did in MSR last year. And as for the metal feet and breeze blocks of the advertising boards, Polish Elf and Safety clearly isn't quite what we are used to.
They really are messing up the info graphics on this tour - gaps were 10-20 seconds out yesterday
Does make you appreciate how good the TdF coverage is...
Anyone remember how crap it was during the olympics? Commonwealth Games TV work was a bit shoddy too...
