Anyone else thinking of going out to see it pass on stages 4 and 5?

I'm thinking of going to watch it go through Wellington on Tuesday and up the hill out of Hemyock on Wednesday.

I'll be marshalling at the Glastonbury finish. Hopefully I'll get a good spot (a couple of years ago when the finish was at Burnham-On-Sea I was placed on the devation route so the only bikes I saw were on top of the team cars!).

...and I'll be in one of the Press cars. I'll try and wave at a few proles as we roll past. :hello::biggrin:

I saw a few 'special people' wave in press cars as they went up Butleigh Hill to the finish. I hope you saw big grin from a baldy marshall on the way up.

Have the say that the race organisation was as bed as always but the local traffic team (who manage the traffic at the Glastonbury Festival) were spot on and really professional. Good afternoon out.

Not me! I was in the car yesterday. Me, the driver, a hack from our local rag and a proper cycling journo who was writing up the stage on his laptop while also working on an interview with Nicholas Roche.

Can anyone confirm the story I just heard that the leading rider took a wrong turn in Glastonbury because he was following the motorbike?

"Frapporti (stage winner) also admitted to a moment’s inattention in the closing metres that almost cost him dearly, saying, “At the finish I was going too hard and I followed the motorbikes in front and almost went down the deviation, so there was fear, but it was ok.”

So young Frank is now tucked up, but with the bidon from Frapportis winning bike on his bedside table

Excellent!

Just been watching the last ten minutes of each stage on youtube. Good hard attacking racing in typical English weather.

I've noticed that one of the regular moans on this forum is the state of UK roads, especially compared to mainland Europe. Well, those little lanes around Glastonbury look as smooth as billiard tables, and yet I've just been shaken to pieces on my local roads here on a 35k ride.

Shameless plug - my piece on road.cc. Warning, contains mankinis.

Nice bit of writing - it breezes along lightly in tune with the Tour.

That Richie Porter looks like the bloke who comperes the town centre crits. Can't be anyone else with a ponytail like that.
