No thread on this important race yet and that's surprising because it's pretty good news for Britain 5 stages in...

While Australia's Caleb Ewan took the early sprints over Rick Zabel (all sounds a bit familiar... ;) ), Britain's Adam and Simon Yates were putting in some great rides, leading the UK being the top team, and then in Stage 5 yesterday, they took a 1-2! Adam is now in 2nd overall.

A long way to go yet, though...

PS: sorry about the thread title, don't know how I can change it...

Never heard about Ruben Fernandez Andujar... is there finally a new Spanish prospect on the way?

Spain is - already a while - for me. the "established" country which has (close to) no young riders who have shown potential.
FWIW, I also expected a better GC from Sean De Bie, who has been mentioned a couple of times as a nice upcoming rider by Belgian commentators

I saw Yates won again, two stages in a row - nice work

Yes, and Adam finished 11th along with the rest of the leaders and remains in second @ 1.03 behind. Simon is now up to 15th overall @3.32.

Another good (final) day for the Yates twins. Adam attacked the leader (as he had to) and got 3rd on the day behind Julian Alaphilippe of France, but couldn't take enough to win overall, so he finished 2nd to Fernandez. Brother, Simon, was 10th on the stage and moved up to 10th overall.

I hope this will be good enough to get them both a ride with a major team...

OT: the gradients on the screen look far far steeper than the numbers on the screen, do they measure gradients different? For example, most of today's final climb was put on the screen as 9% but it looks far steeper than the 10% that my local 3 mile climb is meant to be.

Or is it just an illusion?

9% average for the whole climb - some parts could be much steeper. But, yes, sometimes the official figures are misleading, depending on where the climb is considered to start officially...
