Tour de France & May & Giro

Hi Guys, Doing a bit of research. Was the Tour de France in May in 2011, and if so is it usually in May?

I've looked on Wikipedia which says July so just wanted to confirm this

Also, do Giro organise anything that would create a lot of interest in May?

Basically, I'm looking for a reason for a lot of people searching for "Giro", on Google, in May (every year since 2004, maybe further - I don't have data that far back).

I wondered if they sponsored a cycling event, etc. It might just be that they start advertising heavily then, I don't know. Open to any suggestions, if anyone has any insight

Giro "Old school for Dole Cheque" or "Italian Cycling Tour" or "Cycling helmet Manufacturer" my assumption would be they are searching for Giro de Italia the first major grand tour of the cycling season which normaly runs throughout May
