ISTR that Johnson pissed off ASO mightily when he was mayor of London by arranging then reneging on a London start. Something like that - I don't recall the details. It was said at the time that that would put paid to any presence of the Tour in Britain for the foreseeable future.

A London start in 2027 was a HIGHLY prevalent rumour* when the ITV non-deal was first announced. So yeah - a DEFINITE rumour. You heard it here!

Maybe an unpopular view but I much prefer Tours de France that start and finish in France! Don’t get me wrong, I’d definitely go and watch a British start and be super excited about it, but I love that next years tours are properly French ones!

Squeee....just booked ferry to France to go and watch the Grand Depart at Lille!!!

One day I'll get to see it near my French house in the Drôme... I'll get there this year just five days after it's at Valence (23 July), though, to be fair, it's a flat stage, which is such a waste when there are so many brilliant mountains in the Drôme. But they chase population centres rather than the best roads all too often.

Not clear to me whether there's just 1 ascent or several.

The IMO overly expensive magazine packages are in the shops. Sainsbury's had them on Saturday. If they give me a good £x off a £y spend one might fall into the trolley as a way of reaching the £y.
