I’d love to watch a mountain stage or a TT, the only reason I go to Paris is because you can more or less work out the date in advance and book the flights and hotel before the route announcement and prices go up - basically, I’m tight-fisted

I have watched Le Tour in London, Kent, and a couple of stages up in Yorkshire.
I have also been to Paris a couple of times for the final day. I normally go to the Tuillery gardens overlooking the River Seine, just before they go under the tunnel onto the Rue de Rivoli.

I normally set myself up early doors on the Rue de Rivoli near the kite. There also happens to be a nice cafe there

I’ve seen it in this country, near Sheffield when it started in Yorkshire, also went to the Portsmouth stage in the 1990’s. But you can’t beat a mountain stage. We did a cycle tour of the Alps many years ago, and managed to see 3 stages. On a mountain stage, they don’t just flash past, you can see them coming, get a good view of the riders and the field is really spread out, so the race takes ages to pass through. We saw them on the Col de Glandon, a few days later on the Col de Colombiere, and a TT stage from Morzine to Avoriaz. On the Columbiere, we jumped in behind the broom wagon and rode up the rest of the climb, with crowds cheering us on. Probably wouldn’t be allowed today!

I think it would be fine. Riding on the closed roads ahead of and behind the race was perfectly OK when I last tried it.

Admittedly that was 8 years ago. And not on a mountain stage

Just watching the route presentation - hilarious how awkward the riders are walking across the stage!!

Was Cav carrying a man bag?

Femmes route. Stage 5 goes pretty much past the door of my OH's family's holiday cottage...
