Morning all,

Looking to buy a half decent saddlebag after my Lidl one spontaneously combusted halfway up the Gospel pass.

I like the look of the Topeak quick clip system, but for it to be worthwhile I need to know if you can buy an additional clip, the reason being is that it would make swapping between my road bike and MTB seamless instead of owning two saddlebags or having to labour over removing the saddlebag, the clip means I could just unclip and clip onto another bike with the fitted clip in seconds.

Thanks.

You may find you need a different style of bracket on different saddles. Brooks for example and some road bike saddles need the "F22" extended bracket. I have plenty of ordinary ones in my spares box, as I've had to buy several F22 ones (only £5 at CRC last time I looked) so as to move my Medium wedgebag around.
HOWEVER
Recently I wanted a Large, and decided to get the strap type as they had one reduced in LBS, and it's very little slower to swop between it bikes. In many ways I prefer it..... and its a cheaper bag, and no extra expense for different bracket.

You certainly can get spares, as I have two of the bags (large and medium) and clips on 5 different bikes.

I'm sure the major online stores and your LBS will have them or be able to order them if not.

Yip you can get spares no problem, in fact if you have a narrow road saddle you need to buy their narrower one anyway. I've got the road one fitted to my Kinesis and the standard one my Ridgeback town bike and I used to have another one on my Sirrus before I put a narrower saddle on that too.

Like this thread - as I'm also looking for a topeak small tool bag for my road bike! seems there's less probems with a strap on type than a clip in one! Any advantage in getting the clip in type apart from the obvious quick release offered ?

I've got both types I prefer the clip on one mainly for that reason (qr @ cafes) but also because its not got the seatpost velcro clamp which not only makes qr a pain but I'd rather avoid contact with my carbon post. The strap on one has a couple of nice features though, a couple of pockets inside and a clip for keys + its a little bit bigger and IME you are almost guaranteed it'll fit, so if I'm hiring a bike I take that. The other similar reason I prefer the qr bag is I have a few different sizes of the bag and clamps on different bikes which makes the interchange easier.

I have the quick clip fitted on all my bikes, but I am now in the frame of mind that velcro straps are far simpler, especcially if you have other bags from other manufacturers, as you know the straps will fit any saddle and if you do change from a Topeak to another maunfacturer, then you do not end up with a load of quick clips that do not fit anything. Velcro is more universal and gives more flexibility

Plus with the quick clip. I constantly check to ensure that I have not lost my bag, not that I have lost one to date, but I have heard it does happen

Having a look at Topeak Bags with Chainreaction; the clip on bag is £14.99 for the small bag. The same bag with straps is £8.99 is the clip on bag worth the extra money? Oh I'm looking at the Topeak Aero Wedge Bag.
