FWIW, I got the one with a pressure gauge, which has been invaluable.

Well, write it down boy ......
I have the road morphe version. Whilst it's great, there's no way I could get pressure up to 160psi. Just over a 100 is about what I can manage, which is fine as that's the pressure I use. I would imagine the mtb version would be quicker to inflate a bigger tyre, but harder to get to a high pressure.

I guess you mean this one - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/topeak-road-morph-with-gauge/

I've got one and have found it very useful. I've no idea how the mini, mountain and road morphs compare though. The OP's linked ones don't appear to have the inline gauge. But, if it's a simple matter of finishing a ride and using a track pump at home, the gauge is not a necessity. My fingers do the job without me having to put my glasses on.

EDiT: Oh, I hadn't seen the link that was added later.

I've learned the hard way not to trust myself to correctly guess the pressure. I can tell the difference between "flat" and "some air" but the accuracy stops there...

A tiny female friend suffered an exploding tube on a recent ride. We helped her change the tube but she was going to struggle to inflate the new tube using her crappy minipump so I got my road morph clone out of my bag for her and explained what was what. She was surprised how effective it was and her female pal also had a go. The had both had problems with minipumps in the past so I reckon they will buy road morphs now.

As for the original question ... the mountain morph can shift a lot more air per stroke so it is easier and quicker to pump up huge mountain bike tyres using one of them. The price you pay for that is having to lug a bulkier pump about with you. This is not necessary for small road tyres.

I've converted many people that way, as well.

I've got the version with the guage comes with a bracket so as not to use up one of the Bottle Cage Mounts.....
It came in well handy on our recent London to Paris getting tyres up to pressure when the P**nc**re Fairy Visited.

I'm thinking of it for the tandem.

It has 26"x1.5" tyres that I pump to around 80psi (I think), andI have no shortage of bottle cages (5 I think)

What make/model is the clone? TIA
Sorry - I just checked and it is a Mini Morph clone. Strictly speaking, it isn't actually a clone because it is not identical to the Topeak pump, but it is a very similar design.

My sister asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I asked for a Topeak Mini Morph. She went into her local Halfords and they had sold out of the Topeak pumps so she got me a BikeHut brand pump instead. At the time, both pumps were about £20 so there was no point in choosing on price. Since then, however, the Topeak price has gone up and the Halfords price has come down. I have been happy with the pump so I think it is a good deal at the new price of £14.99 - LINK.

I have one of each - both excellent - the mountain seems to get slightly more pressure into both 23 and 28 tyres that I run on different bikes - that said much above 100 is hard to achieve. The upside is the flexible tube that reduces the risk of tearing the valve stem out of the inner tube!

To digress - if you have a suitable size seat tube on the frame then the "seat post track pumps" that you can buy are great - seat pin out, connect the tube, fold out the foot and the saddle is the track-pump handle, lots of pressure. I have one on a Van Nicholas Yukon and also on a Dahon folder.
