Hey,

I want to completely strip my bike as it's 4 years old and even though it's not been ridden that much (at least not as much as you lot on here ) the headset crunches a bit so that needs regreasing but eventually it will all need doing so I want the tools to do it rather than paying somebody to do it.

I've got http://www.evanscycles.com/products/ice-toolz/essence-tool-kit-for-home-mechanics-ec006795 at the moment so I've got enough-ish I think but I know I need a work stand and that's about it. What else is really, properly needed to do this sort of thing?

I've snapped the tyre levers  so I need to replace those.

I've got a Carrera Virtuoso FWIW.

Apart from a workstand, the main tool you'll be missing is a set of cycle specific cable cutters, which you'll need to redo the cables. A grease syringe, rubber mallet and awl may come in handy too

Regreasing the headset bearings may not be enough to get them working smoothly and you may find they need replaced. Unless the headset is fully integrated, where the cartridge bearings just sit inside the head tube, replacing them can be tricky without a tool to knock out the old bearings and another to press in the new ones.

For a fully integrated headset you can just buy new bearings and drop them in place otherwise it might be best to leave that job to the LBS. From pics I can see of your bike, you have a press-in style headset, but you may have enough access to be able to give the bearings a clean and grease.

What bobones says pretty much covers everything, i have a virtuoso and i let them do the head set and only take it to the lbs if i cant get somehting done .The last time was when replacing the BB and it was stuck as i did not have enough leverage to get it out.
