Too much pressure it appears.

Being a good boy who does as he's told, after fixing yesterday's pun***** I fitted everything back up and started to inflate the tyre.
I guess that tube didn't really like the 100psi I fed it going by the pop.

Change of underwear and a lesson learnt.
It appears my hybrid tyres need a bit less pressure than the road bike tyres.
It won't patch now, that's for sure.
It's shredded !

Beginner's mistake I suppose.

Wouldn't have thought 100psi would be enough to blow the tyre, even if the maximum recommended pressure is less than that. What was the manufacturers pressure recommendation? Usually that's stamped on the sidewall.

Maybe your tyre was weakened in some way. Maybe by whatever caused the puncture, or by a manufacturing defect?

Reading your post again; was it the tyre or tube that gave up? If it was the tube; are you sure you fitted the tyre correctly? Maybe the tube pressure pushed the rim of the tyre off the wheel, which would then allow the tube to explode!
