Why do you want 10 innertubes? With £24 you could buy a really good tyre so you would need only one innertube.

"Good" tyres don't mean no punctures. Marathon Plus may be puncture resistant but that doesn't make them good in certain circumstances, eg. for racing (plus they don't come in <25mm). Same goes for commuter tyres like armadillos and gators.

Schwalbe Stelvios are great tyres in my book but they're not super puncture proof - wouldn't make good race tyres if they were. Same goes for Michelin Pro, etc.

cheap tubes = p*nctures
Does it? Surely a thorn or a bit of glass won't be thwarted by even the costliest tube if it's already shown enough muscle to get thru' the tyre.

Agreed, but pinch flats are a different matter. I had a bunch of cheap, lightweight tubes that punctured on a regular basis - 2 on the same ride. They were the right size for the tyre but just seemed to go bang when I hit a pothole. I changed to a heavier duty vredestein tube and never had a puncture with those tyres again.
