i got my new tires the other day and also some new inner tubes, aint been on my bike lately so never realised till i was cleaning it up this morning, new tires are 700 x 23 while old ones are 700 x 28, was the kid in the shop who got them for me and he knew sizes etc.. my new inner tubes are continental 700 x 28/37 or something, are these to big or can i get away with them?
I'm assuming the 23 means they'll be skinnier so better speed?

Yes 700x23 is skinnier and likely faster but before fitting check that they are compatible with your wheel rim width. Sheldon has a chart (approx 3/4 of the way down the page) which should help.

Having recently had an oversized tube fail on me (it split where it had creased inside the tyre) I personally would change the tubes for the correct size for the tyres.
