Hello and i am sure you fellas are enjoying your weekend (im working :/)

ok with your support and encouragement i am doing 20 plus miles each day now (thats my commuting to and from work) and i feel great however my legs don't, i was wondering if i need to give them rest (i only started biking recently) or use some supplement?

Secondly what techniques do you guys use to increase the speed someone told me they do 10 miles in 20-25 mins i wish i can achieve that. currently it takes me about 50 mins for 10 miles.

thanks

Just keep cycling, that's all you need to do. You get fitter, you get faster.
You certainly don't need any supplements, unless it's a nice slice of cake.

Someone's been telling you porky pies. Even on our club 10 mile time trial no one averages 30mph, 24mph yes but that's the elite members of our club, the rest of us do it in about 30 minutes. But for a normal 10 mile ride, i.e. not a time trial I'd expect to do it in between 30 and 40 minutes.

10 miles in 20 minutes perhaps a pro on a closed course with no traffic or lights. My average commuting 4 miles is 13 mph if lucky!

thanks that was very reassuring that means my 10-11 mph is not bad for a beginner i just want to bring it down to 30 minutes and i will

No he showed me on Strava he has 52 kmph of average speed on it and he competes so i guess he is a pro i was jelous to see his bike it was only 3 to 4 kgs.. i want to bring it down to 30 minutes and as good people here have suggested me to keep on practicing i will stick to it.

The best I have a local 10 miles loop is about 32 mins, more usually 36-38 mins, as others have said just keep cycling it will come in time, but it does take time, you will find you sort of plateau a while then suddenly you see an improvement, well thats what I have found.

Don't always believe what's on Strava. It doesn't always tell the truth. How about creating parts of your route into sprint bits ? Try to sprint or go as fast as you can for 2 minutes then revert to normal for a period and then sprint again. So long as you pick safe parts of your route that will help you fitness hugely.

That's rubbish too.
Okay don't get too excited I am not a mean person and I certainly don't like arguing with others if the chap told me some porky pies and that makes him feel happy I won't enjoy proving him wrong and about the weight of his bike trust me I don't carry a scale with me so I just guessed. Now lets finish this conversation for good:smile:
