Nothing wrong with that. Keep at it and it'll be 15 in just under an hour before long

I've been riding for a few years , every week day as a commuter and for fun at weekends and I still don't go much further than 10 miles in an hour.

Careful with that axle Eugene
That's fine. Just trundle around, enjoying your riding. I started off at about 12mph average two years ago, now I'm doing my 13 mile commute in around 46 minutes. I'm quicker than some, slower than others. It'll do.

Doesn't sound too bad to me when first starting out.

Bee-in-bonnet time: Is the bike set up right for you? Having the saddle too low is common with new cyclists and makes riding slow and hard work. To get a good starter set-up, have it so that with your heel on the pedal your leg is just about straight at the bottom of the stroke. When pedalling normally (using the ball of the foot) the leg should then have just about the right amount of bend in it and can be fine tuned from there.
