guys , 10 mile time trial , done in 23 minutes , is that a average , good or above average time ?
also , will this equate to a 23 mph average speed , if not how can i work that out

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
10 miles in 23 minutes = 1 mile in 2.3 minutes (23/10) Average speed - mph = 60 divided by 2.3 = 26.086956 mph. Not bad! - depends on the course - was it downhill with a gale behind you? ;)

It's a good time. Faster than me but not quite as fast as the fastest guys at my club.
The guy I bought my wheels from had done a low 20 (ie almost 30mph for 10 miles)

Depends on the course. 23 minutes would be practically a course record on some 10 courses- there are some lumpy ol' courses out there. On my local club course it would be a pretty respectable time (course record for that 20 minutes, typical good club rider time is about 22 minutes).

your right of course , the road surface and course can make all the differance , wind or no wind , haveing no experiance of TT , if some one was say 2 minutes slower over ten miles is that a huge gap ? in terms of how good they are ,
