time to bring the palm tubers in

the cold pretty much did them in. maybe a cpl weeks earlier this year

managed to bring in 2 for the winter

have 4 large tubers to store in the basement until next March

got them started again. a cpl weeks later than I wanted to, but it's done

shud be ready to go in the ground outside by the end of May. the plant(s) we over-wintered has done well

the one in the kitchen not quite as well, but it stayed alive, has new leaves & actually the smaller they are, during the winter, the easier they are to manage

next week I see overnight temps consistently 50F or higher. I'll still wait 2 more weeks until the US Memorial Day weekend

it has not been a banner year for the elephant ear palm plants. very little rain this summer. I was thinking of stopping w/ them since we are planning to move in the next few years & they are rather labor intensive, seasonally. so when I pull them up, probably sooner than the usual late November, meaning thinking pretty soon, I was thinking of planting low maintenance grasses like that one in the center, which grows w/o rain & pretty much stays year round altho dies back but remains thru the winter

man at the garden center thinks I don't have to bring them in, that they'l come back next year. hmmm ... might just try that

this one is going in Wifey's Art Room until the end of May 2025
