The rear tyre on my road bike is starting to take on a sieve-like appearance with the number of small holes in it and the front's almost as bad. I'm doing the Exmoor Beauty on Sunday and a 100km audax the week after. They've been like this for a while but I've just taken the wheel off to mend a puncture (not got as far as taking the tyre off - more caffeine needed before I start that battle) and can't help wondering if the time has come to release a few more moths from my wallet and replace them?

Vittoria Rubino's....for the money, they are a bargain.
Hard wearing, grippy and come in different colours.

What rubino is it?

Going to try these next as im running mavic aksion tyres at the moment which are some type of vittoria tyre and although poor in the wet they have been punture free for 1400 miles and roll well and seem to have plenty life left in them and cost about half the price of other similiar tyres.

The normal Rubino's are wire bead, The Pro's are folding.
They are both very good in the wet.
I expect the tyres you have are Zaffiros.

For quick delivery i'd recommend merlin cycles, usually next day if ordered before 4

Thanks David. I run 23c but that's a really kind offer. :becool:

I've gone back and forth all day and am currently liking the look of the Rubino Pros, if only because a lot of women seem to approve. I reckon there's absolutely no point having a set of tyres if you can't ride your bike as the bloomin things won't go back on. I have ickle hands and only 1&3/4 thumbs. Well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

+1. Haven't had a single puncture on the wire bead ones in the 1000+ miles that I've had them on the commuter. The rear is starting to pick up some cuts, but they're lasting amazingly well considering the amount of smashed glass I encounter. Still plenty of rubber left on both tires, and they haven't slipped out from me once.

Treat yourself, if there's anytime you don't want a puncture - it's when your negotiating a gruelling sportive/audax and you dont want to be pissing around mending a puncture!
