During cycling yesterday my right knee has become very tight and I get a pain when I start to bend my knee, not a sharp pain but more of a dull aching pain. Is this common in cycling or any ideas what it could be and how to treat it

I ended up with a tight knee yesterday,i fell off after scraping the kerb(only at about 7 mph so no harm done). My knee is grazed but after my fall i did another 7 or 8 miles to hopefully stop it from stiffening up. It was pretty stiff last night, but today it's fine. I think that getting blood flowing to a strain or a pull or a knock is better than resting it immediately after the injury occurs.

Sounds like you are feeling your knee ligaments Bill or possibly tendons from the dull ache you describe.

If you have torn the ligaments or tendon it will have swollen severely, I suspect you have just tweaked them. If it does start to swell & you have pain, get them checked out

Thanks for the replys, my right knee looks a little swollen but the swelling really is minimal so I dont think I have torn anything. I did have a problem few months ago where my muscles around my knee were weak so I had to have physio for it dno if that makes any difference
