Thule cycle carriers.

Ive been going round and round in circles looking at tow bar mounted bike carriers. Ideally i I would like a 2 bike carrier with lockable arms and a foot operated tilt mechanism. And the 2 versions I'm looking at are the Velocompact 925 and the Euroway G2. They are both quite pricey at around £300 in Hafords, but I will go through Topcashback and use my British Cycling membership and £40 worth of vouchers which will bring the price down to about £230. Anyone got any experience of the two racks? They are both priced very similar so what are the differences? There is also a Euroride 941 but is a hand tilting mechanism and I don't think the clamps are lockable. I should also say it's a detachable tow bar so will they all fit?
Any help and recommendations greatly appreciated.

I don't think this does the tilt mechanism but is great value

I know you did not ask about Saris but I really like my Saris Freedom rack because it does not touch the frame and it works with my touring bikes that have fenders.

You say that, but I got one that is basically the same thing for £15. It lacks the word "Thule" and has fitments for 4 bikes (although you can only fit three) but the design has the same principles.

Edit - they've gone up in price, and the useless 4th mounts have been deleted - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Bike-Cy...112725?hash=item210672e0d5:g:GSgAAOSwv-NWXaoG

I am open to consider other makes. I quite like the look of the Witter carriers. I'm not sure about the carriers on which you hang the bikes on, they look as though there may be quite a bit of movement on them plus I would like to maintain boot access, hence the tilt mechanism would be handy.

We've been using the Euroway G2 for some years now, and find it to be excellent! Foot operated tilt mech that allows the tailgate of a Focus Estate to open, and a range of adjustments to accommodate just about any combination of bikes. As standard, we were supplied with only 1 lockable arm, but the locking mech can easily be swapped between the long & short arms, or you can just order an extra locking mech. It comes with all the wiring and lights, and connector of your choice to the towbar electrics. You'll need to get a number plate (eg from Halfords) to slot into the carrier. Can't think of any reason why a detachable towbar would be an issue.
