Thule Backpac 973 rear mount bike cycle rack £80 to CC members......excellent condition
see pic here http://www.fietsdrager-online.nl/images/973_BackPac_WLOC.jpg
This is a superbly made rack by Thule. Model is called Backpac 973 and mine has an extra rail for a third bike. Rather than one size fits all, they do a standard rack plus an extra fitting kit (mine has fitting kit no 17 for an Audi A3 2007 5 door Sportback). You can easily buy the correct kit for your car and it fits most vertically windowed hatchbacks/MPV etc with the right kit which is easily available.
Online car checker is here http://www.roof-racks-uk.co.uk/cgi-bin/thule-cycle-carriers-bikes.cgi - once you have done this, please make sure you cursor down the screen where (if the 973 is ok) it will be shown as BackPac Static Rear Mount System and tell you which fitting kit you need. NB that some cars with a rear spoiler will not take this rack.
Full list of cars and whether it will fit is here http://basilicon.ipapercms.dk/Thule/rmsguidethule/eng/
It takes three bikes. The photos of it in use has one of the bikes with the wheel off as we needed height to be low for a ferry trip. On most cars that it fits the number plate and lights are still visible so no need for a tailboard. It is possible to open the tailgate with bikes on. It has not damaged my car in any way.

Due to size this is pickup only from Winchester or can deliver up to 20 miles. Feel free to contact me and have a look before bidding

The Thule 973 BackPac offers a really secure way of carrying bikes on the rear of estate cars, hatchbacks, mpv's and 4x4 vehicles. By using a fitting adapter, which is designed to fit the particular vehicle, the BackPac is attached in a raised position to the tailgate or rear door without the use of straps. A major advantage is that it is possible to open the rear door or tailgate with the BackPac fitted. The standard unit carries up to two bikes with the option of a third and fourth bikes to be carried. A lock is included to lock the bikes to the rack. The optional 567 frame lock enables the carrier to be locked to the vehicle. An ever-expanding range of adapters often makes it possible to transfer a BackPac to nother vehicle without major expense.
