Anyone use a thule 970 xpress cycle carrier on a towbar?

Just bought one today but when i went to fit on the car it seems too tight!

Do i need to use a bit of effort or put alot of weight on it?

I thought towbars were a standard size.

I've never used one - but towballs are a standard size (50mm if I remember correctly)

Did you install the towbar or was it there already? There is an issue with Al-Ko caravan stabilisers as they don't fit many towballs and you need to replace the ball with one with a longer neck.

What do the instructions say about fitting it to the ball?

I use a thule one which fastens onto a plate bolted on behind the towball. It carries 4 bikes, but needs a separate number plate board and lights.

It appears to bounce a lot if you watch it in the mirror, which is quite scary - but we drove to the South -West of France this summer and did over 3000 miles total with no problems.

Towball was already fitted when I got the car so don't know what it towed.

Instructions advise to wipe with something can't remember what as I'm at work.

Some towballs are 52mm..............

You may be able to check by looking on the top of the ball - sometimes the diameter is stamped there.

Ah, went back and looked again and it is stamped brink IS050.

Will have another go at weekend.
