I don't have the answer but I would like to know how 591's you can get on Ford Galaxy roof bars - I am hoping you can get four across the top if some are mounted forwards and some face backwards. Fingers crossed...

I've got four on but I don't know what width bars I have. I'll measure and let you know. They are on one forward, one backward, etc.

Four carriers means I can take six bikes at a push as well and have. The two outside bikes have other bikes strapped to them, with a few bracing straps running in.

Forgot they were outside the back door so I just measured. My bars are 120 (just bars, not end fittings), 110 would be OK as there's plenty of room on mine, I think you might struggle at less than 110.
Thanks crackle. I may go for the ateras then. Roofbox bloke said that 4 wouldnt fit in 110cm
I don't know the Ateras, so I would caution that the fitting where the leg meets the bars could make all the difference in whether it fits or not. If it happens to be a wide fitting which the 591 won't go on top of or the fitting means you lose some useful usable space near the outside, then he might be right. I know the Thule's can be fiddled with so that the 591's sit over the bar/leg meeting point with one of the 591 securing points outside the leg but still on the bar, this is how I have mine. I can take a picture tomorrow if that description is as clear as mud.

I took some piccies on my phone, not great but hopefully they'll act as a bit of an illustration

I couldn't get all 4 in the picture but this should illustrate the space I've left between each one on the 120 bars. I know two are not 591's, my pockets aren't deep enough, but the fittings size is nearly the same as the 591's.

This shows how I have the outside fitting beyond the foot. Done deliberately to crowd the bikes nearer each side of the car as that makes it easier to get them on. It also means I can lodge extra bikes outside of the outer bike and rest the wheel on the bars. They could all fit inside the foot but that depends on the car and roof width.

I've had 4 carriers on a variety of cars, smallest one being a Fiesta. They are currently on a trailer. Two of them are those thule 530s - I think that's one in that picture, and two are Thule tour 110s.

I put 4 bikes on the 4 bars that fit on the trailer and the trailer is a little less wide than a standard car. I put them alternate front wheel forward facing/ backward facing. with a little more tweaking i could get 6 on using 6 bars but have no need to . that puts me at maximum stated load for the bars and trailer lid which will be a tested SWL.

I have 2 591's on my Honda CRV but could easily fit four. Not sure on the length of the bars but think they could be 120. I have the Aero bars and use the clamp/bracket thing to attach the carriers but I also have the bolts/pins things to attach them via the aero grooves. Means I'd need to cut the rubber trim but as I only have 2 carriers on I didn't see the point.
