It takes place on a motor racing circuit so the answers must be flat - yes, and smooth - yes, surely?

I rode a similar event at Silverstone and was surprised to find that the tarmac did have some lumps missing round the edges, and there were 2 'climbs' of about 30 ft per lap, but let's face it - that is better than most stretches of road in the UK!

Ah Colin, you're forgetting the wind that blasted across the circuit - obviously with and against in fairly equal proportions but the straight with the headwind was "steep"

How could I forget it, Rob! I went back and read my blog entry again to remind me. I clocked the wind at 18 mph and it was a killer on my singlespeed bike - grovelling into it 'uphill', and spinning out with a tailwind 'downhill'!

Same to you, Leigh. Have fun at Thruxton!

I really enjoyed the Silverstone event despite the wind. It was organised by robgul to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

... thanks for the plug - unfortunately we've been unable to get use of the venue again (so far .... we're talking to another motor racing circuit ) but still run the other events - unashamed promo : www.macride-events.org.uk Take a look at the MacRide Tour for something a bit different at www.macride-tour.org.uk
