And Iv'e received payment from the insureance company of the driver who pulled out of a side road, collecting me on the bonnet of the car on his way out.

Since then there have been many who have told me to forget about/you'll get nothing out of it. I recommend that anyone else who finds themselves in the same posistion do as I did. Not let it go, don't give up.

Revenge would have been to easy. Wheelclamps were bought once I'd found the vehicle.

Hope you have recovered fully classic?
I agree with you, be determined. If you have been attacked with a ton of metal and you bear no responsibility it's your right for compensation!
I was involved in a similar scenario and have a permanently damaged shoulder to prove it. It took two years and six months for me to achieve final payment from the insurance company of the offender.
Get a good solicitor and go for it with everything you've got!!!

Congratulations Classic, we need a list of injuries so we can all compare notes.:tongue:

I was lucky, the driver who hit me immediately assumed full responsibility as did her insurer, (plenty of witnesses so no choice really). My lawyer was also very good, and as a result I got my compo in just over 18 months.

I hope you're going to spend a good proportion of the cash on something you've always wanted.

Ouch. Glad you got compensated. How bad were your injuries and bike damage?

Glad to hear of your success if not your accident.

It's been 3 years 2 months so far with mine. Doesn't time fly! Should hear something in the next month or 2 I hope.. Unfortunately the driver did a runner leaving a false address but the witness was excellent and got the reg no. as well. The insurance co. has accepted liability but the amount is still in question.

Injuries
Whiplash & sore down the left side where contact was made with the vehicle.
Left leg was trapped between the bike frame and the front of the car, which had the bike attached to its front end when he reversed off me.

Bike was a right off. Replaced to try & keep a job, didn't work though. I lost the job as an indirect result of this.

Asterix, similar problem encountered with regards to the driver doing a vanishing act after the incident. He gave a non-existent address to the police on the night.
It wasn't his car, he told police it belonged to his sister, who he's now living with. Car was untaxed & he smelt of drink. No insurance on the vehicle.
These little facts didn't bother the police though.

He later denied being present at the time of the incident, the car however was. One of several reasons he gave for doing what he did.

This bit will get something said about it. But here goes.
Full face helmet taken off in order to phone the police. Why I took it off I don't know.

In one sense I'm lucky, I'm still here. Others are not so lucky.
