Is it possible to buy carbon forks with a threaded steerer ( 1" ) to accommodate the headset already in place on my bike ? Ta for all informed replies.

i could not find one recently, so i changed all over to Ahead set, cost me a little over £120. i had just put on a new threaded headset but i guess that is progress. im sure some will argue not so.

There are (were?) forks like this. Usually they had an aluminium steerer tube. I think I might have one in the cellar if you're interested.

I wouldn't want to trust a threaded carbon steerer!

Alloy steerer maybe but the threading process would horribly weaken the Carbon.

It took my LBS around 3 weeks to find some, eventually they were at the back of a warehouse at some distributor they'd never used before (don't know the name I'm afraid). The forks I ended up with are aluminium alloy threaded 1" steerer with carbon blades they are branded Mizuno, however a Google search doesn't help with finding any for sale...

It might be worth trying to find the Mizuno European distributor to see if they can help.

Alternatively 1" threadless carbon forks are easier to find, I'm no expert but I believe a conversion is possible.

Finally, you have to ask if its really worth it? Would it be worth looking at what frames are on e-bay for not far different to the cost of the forks (£150 + fitting).
