Thoughts on this Mercier?

I fancied adding another old bike to the stable, and this came up locally at a good price so I took the plunge. The 'blood and custard' colour scheme caught my eye too.

I think it's a pretty low-end model from the late 60s/early 70s but would be interested in the views of the cognoscenti.

That's rather nice. Although it's a 'Tour de France' model the head angle and wheelbase suggests it should be quite comfortable to ride.
You need some toe clips of course.

I saw one of those yesterday in Brighton, abandoned on a bike rack, all bent and rusty. Rather sad really.

You need some toe clips of course.

Yup, got some chrome clips with tan leather straps that should fit the bill nicely.

You might find that if you contact Mercian they might be able to tell you a lot about it's original specification ...... although they do charge for it
