Thoughts on this helmet?

I was going to share this on my Facebook but it'd be utterly pointless as nobody else I know cycles, so I've joined to ask your opinions as well as to find myself some recommendations for a first road bike.

Folding helmets are nothing new - lots of riders wore them in the 60s, 70s and 80s...

I had one of these people follow me on twitter, there are a few people/companies trying to make them. What it gains in practicality of storage it loses in strength of material and rigidity. Not that a normal helmet cant pop open and expose the head... but thats a whole other discussion.

I suppose, for those that use the cycle hire, it's better than nothing.
Personally, for me, nah.

I'm not convinced there'll be any great benefit in having the ability to fold.

I'm also dissuaded by his poorly researched, emotive appeal, and his mentioning the (at that time) 5 cyclist deaths in 9 days when he doesn't know whether they died from head injuries or not, or whether his, indeed any, helmet would have saved them.

If he can engineer another couple of folds into that helmet he can shove it where it belongs.

what he said, part of the strength of the helmet will come from its rigidity, high end ones tend to have carbon/aluminium spines to reinforce them so a helmet with no defined structure is not liable to direct the force of an impact around the shell or the cushioning sit properly.

its liable to just disintegrate on impact along the joins.
Of course i could be talking utter rollocks

Ohh never saw that... Wonder what 'most' means though in terms of numbers and if its ppassed the strict SNELL standard from Germany
