Hi all, I'm looking for views on the best ladies padded cycling shorts please. I'm currently using altura pro gel padded 3/4 lengths for my training rides which are fine for 40-50 miles, but next month I'm doing a 5 1/2 day charity cycle across California doing 60-100kms a day in what is going to be hot, sweaty weather. I want to make sure the rear end remains as pain free as possible. I ordered the Altura shorts as I'm used to that make but the shorts are made huge compared to the 3/4s. Any words of wisdom on the best ladies shorts for distance day in day out? Hope you can help

Don't know about make, but for a multi-day, sweaty ride, make sure you can wash and dry your shorts overnight, or take a spare pair (if you are being supported), so you have a clean set every morning.
And you are wearing nowt underneath, I presume?

I did 1100km in 4 days in http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-ladies-aeron-race-cycling-short/ (3 pairs, 2 hand-basin rinses). No issues at all.

Long rides the general advice is to use chamois cream. I use a homemade one that was from a link here, and you can buy them from any bike shop. I was also advised to bring sudocream/conotrane (basically nappy rash treatment) to tend to any sores. I didn't need it, but was glad to have it in an emergency. Many people also use sudocreme/conotrane as a chamois cream.

Conotrane is stupidly cheap: about £1.43 for a large tube from boots.
