Hello
I bought a new Probike Discovery For £150 (retail £299) for going to work etc
Noticed the pannier rack was bent & twisted
Back wheel was buckled by 3mm - Their warranty on the Web states it can be 4mm thats normal
Gears did not work correctley - Their reply "If you know anything about cables - they stretch" ( 10mm and the nuts are loose ??)
Gear cable housing was cut at the top and cut/split in 3 places under the crank - No response from Seller
Nuts on axle and seat post chewed thru using wrong tools - again no resposnse
One wheel spoke is bent

The bike is now 3 weeks old and now the spokes have started to corroded (its kept in the house)

Their attitude is "you bought a bargain - get it repaired -you will be quids in" Their words
Their terms state "The bike is tuned -fit the pedals -position the handle bar and its ready to run"

I've never bought a bike cheap from the web but from the sounds of the multiple other similar stories you are not alone in falling for the BSO trap!

I'd look at their feedback and you should also be covered under Paypal/eBay warranty.

You do get disreputable sellers and this could be one of them. Link?

Both of my boys have got Probikes since the LBS has them and they've been OK, without the issues described above.

I agree there is nothing wrong with Probike
It was the way it was setup and stored at their premises
Unfortunately I did'nt buy it thru e-bay or paypal (wish I did now)
It was a direct sale with Discount Bicycles Ltd

We bought a Land Rover Lyra, for the GF, through Discount Bicycles and found it excellent quality for the price. Well set up and still with true wheels after a year. She's not used it much so cables not had much use to stretch but I don't envisage any problems in the near future.

I think you must have bought a pup.

Have you tried to hold them to their warranty?

I'd go with a complaint in writing to them and a hold on your credit card, which I hope you paid by. Looking at their own warranty, then the pannier rack, rusting spokes and split cables should be covered.

That should get things moving.
