Thorns and Punctures !! card

38 miles into a 40 mile ride and back tyre flat. Rather than change the tube, I decided to walk home. Within 1/2 mile....front tyre flat !!
Just changed tubes and found 2 thorns, one in each tyre. Worryingly, the back tube had 2 punctures, but I could only find one thorn in the tyre !

Avoid the Shenstone/Footherly/Little Aston route at present. Hedge cutting being undertaken and debris scattered in the wind = Bloody Thorns !!

I was at my furthest away point yesterday and came round a corner to find the council flailing the hedges.
I turned around and went back to where I came from ( the daily mail would be chuffed if I wasn't white british!)

At the other side of the flailing was another cyclist who came through. He took a turn off behind me after he came through. He was going very slow and looking down for a fair bit, probably listening for hissing.

I share your pain Prando. Farmers down my way shred the hawthorn hedges too. Spoils a good ride.

oh yep - we share your pain (or at least my OH does...) our new year's eve mountain bike ride was plagued with them there thorns... 6 fairy visits for my husband and 2 for me when all was said and told for a 25 mile bike ride (!) and I have just confirmed no new fairy visits on my road bike after last night when the hedges along a main road (A54) were cut during the day littering the road with hawthorn clippings!

Following similar punctures I bought stuff that fluently into the tubes - Halfords own make. No further punctures. Further report the landowner or the area to your local council so a notice can be served on them.
