Here's the rides I'm doing for my PBP qualifier Super Randonneur series

200km Mad March from Exeter, march 6th. Local to me. Weather varies from year to year. One time there was a lot of sleet

300km The Elenith, April 9th. from Wolverly nr Kidderminister. I have to stay in a B&B for this ride, it's a lot of travel and expense. But it is worth it. The first time I rode the Elenith I thought "I could ride this every day". Each time I've done it it's been as good.

400km The Irish Mail, 21st May. from Upton Magma nr Shewsbury. Another major lot of travel but for a fabulous ride. I've only done it once before and the weather was good. It runs earlier in the year for PBP purposes so might be a bit "interesting". Great final night section back along the old A4 coach road.

600km The Bryan Chapman, 14th May. from Chepstow. This ride is a legend, super scenic, pretty easy considering it's purpose to "cross Wales, twice". Weather usually poor, occasionally good

If one of the rides doesn't work out I will do another, I've not got a spare set booked up though
In June/July the gap before PBP I am considering another 600 and maybe the Mersey Roads 24h TT

Good Luck how you can describe a 600km ride as "pretty easy" is beyond me.

I am doing my first Audax in Feb 19th .only the 123km Snowdrop but enough of a challenge for me.

It's all relative isn't it?

Riding in Wales is easier than riding in Devon. This is because of the different methods of sheep herding. In Wales there are big hills and they have sheep dogs. So the sheep are herded over the least steep bits. In Devon a bloke just waves a stick at them and they run off up any clear bit of ground, like stream beds- which always follows the steepest path.

As a general rule I dont ride the roadie on sheep tracks or stream beds but as a beginner maybe i am doing it wrong ?

Me neither but road builders love to follow an existing sheep track
That's why many lanes in Devon turn into small rivers when it rains

Of course all this is pre-history and supposition.

I'm impressed by folk who plan their future events so far ahead. I'm happier with last-minute decisions of the "I think I fancy a 400 this weekend" kind.

I have to book ahead to avoid the weekend being filled up with other important stuff such as filling the wood shed, trips to Ikea or reconcreting the path outside the kitchen
