This years front lights are....

So it's coming to that time of year again when I look at the front light I have and wonder if it could be improved. So assuming I can find approx £70 from somewhere, what front lights are the contenders this year?

A quick look found the Hope Vision 1 LED which outputs 240 lumens. Not too bad for just a smidge over £70.

Any other suggestions? Ideally I would want a self contained light. Can't be doing with faffing about with battery packs.

I'll be keeping it John. It'll be my back-up, sorry!

Anyway I'm not sure you would actually want it. When it works it is a great light, but I've found that it can be a little temperamental. I think if the batteries aren't putting out a high enough voltage (even though they have good charge) the light just won't work. I know this can often be an issue for high power lights, it just seems to happen too often.

Couldn't get it to light this morning. When I got to work I set the batteries to charge and they reached full charge after 5 minutes (I though they were close to full charge). The light then worked with the batteries. Good quality 2900mAh batteries as well!

I'll be investing in one of the Hope's in the next few weeks look decent for the money, certainly an improvement on my Cateye 320.
Just got to decide on colour now.

There is a massive thread over in the MTB section on Bikeradar on front lights - Covers a fair few options.

Go over to the other forum!!!! If I had wanted to look at the Bikeradar forum I would have!

(So which subsection is it in, I can't find it!)

I've been looking around the same price point myself.

Besides the Hope Vision 1, of course there's the SSC P7 torches and bike lights available from DX and other places. The favourable exchange rate means a Dinotte 200L could be yours for as little as £78.12 (if HMRC don't get their paws on it). This BLT light (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13350) looks reasonable, although like the Dinotte it has a separate battery pack.

The Light and Motion Vega 200 is also rated around 200 lumens, but is so ugly I couldn't bring myself to consider it.

Errr, that's about all I've found.

I need some socks as well so I'm going to put in an order and be done with it.

One Hope light will be winging it's way to me shortly.

Oh, does anyone have any spare wiggle £5 vouchers? I've tried getting them before by changing details, but it has never worked.;)

excuse the ignorance but what are hybrid batteries / eneloop batteries? And where do you get them from? I'm an old person you see and use language like 'SP4' instead of 'D'
Cheers
