How much does it cost to Oldham?
looks good fun that. Nice light conditions for the most of it as well.

my fastest on a cycle was 44mph on the last downhill stretch, and only done it because I knew the road was closed but what you did was scary :hyper:

I didn't feel scared, but that's because it was man and machine perfectly meshed as one!
Maybe it looks faster on the camera than it really was - the camera is mounted on the handlebars, so is lower down that most videos - that might make it look faster.

44mph?

That's just irresponsible.

What if a car pulled out of a side road or a squirrel ran out from the bushes. You'd never stop in time. That's plain dangerous.

the speed on GPS is more accurate than normal speedos so it must be right. Too fast for me though.

Die young, stay pretty?

I did 54 mph somewhere recently and my all-time record is 56 mph. At one time, I thought about trying to achieve 60 mph or even 100 kph (62.15 mph) but when I did that 56 mph descent, I hit a raised manhole cover, chinned my handlebars and got big air. The fright put me off going downhill really fast!

I did 46mph down one of the hills coming out of Lands End and hit a low branch which caused the wobbles which loosened my bowels  !!! Slowed me down for the next 8 days or was it the 900miles  to JoG.
Its great when you can get up to those speeds....Enjoy the thrill.....you soon get old or knackered!

Dodgy old road is peeblecombe hill, the bend where the hedgerow has been cut back on the left hand side, is to allow the many cars and lorries to crash through, into the field, when they missjudge the bend. The railway crossing can also be dodgy as the rails are set at a slight angle.

I did 47.6mph down the String Road on Arran but it was recorded on a wired bike computer but my more accurate top speed was only 44.4mph last year and 43.4mph this year but all these roads have something in common they are pretty straight and no side roads, and the weather was good, add any of these conditions, I'm a descending wuss

I hit 50.2 mph just over a week ago on this http://connect.garmin.com/activity/114811516 and it was a real buzz. Anything over 40 mph really gets the blood flowing

I hit 52 mph one scorhing hot summers day on the hill down into Castleton from the east.It turned out that my cycle computer was dialled in wrong so it was only about 47mph.Madness of youth maybe in that anything near 40mph now seems quite scary.
