Ok so the other half has literally threatened me with severe physical harm if I bought another bike without getting rid of some of the others. I was doing well and got rid of 2 but then I saw this and couldn't resist.

I think it's a raleigh corsa or maybe rapide. Serial number and gear makes me think corsa which was only reynolds 501 but it's still in decent condition (will give it a weigh and compare versus the sons rapide).

Has full shimano 105 golden arrow (except for brake levers), and a lovely cinelli stem and giro d'italia bars.

Paid the princely sum of £50 which if I was being particularly avaricious I could easily make back by stripping all the components, cleaning and reselling.

That said I think it's too nice to do that so if you don't see me for a while then I'm probably busy eating hospital food through a straw :-)

Good find. Looks very similar to my Rapide.

@jagman.2003 , I thought it was a rapide when I saw the advert. I think Raleigh did the rapide in 83 and the corsa in 84 in that pearlescent oyster colour. The rapide had campagnolo gears and super custom crank whereas the corsa had the shimano 105 gear on. Other difference was the rapide was 531 and the corsa is 501. Apart from that they look identical.

Have started to clean it and it's starting to look alright. With that colour scheme I think I'm going to try and keep it, but will see better once I have gotten rid of the rust spots.

As for weight it came in between 12 and 13 kg so not too heavy but not the lightest. My sons rapide weighed in at between 10 and 11kg so I'm guessing it must be 501 tubing.

Pleased as punch as it's my size for a change at 21 1/2 inches tall.

What have you told Mrs Tony?
Have you tried the "it just followed me home. What was I to do?" ploy? Worked for me with a Jack Russell.

It's hidden at the moment in the middle of the other 3 bikes that are in the back yard (still have 6 others to sort yet lol). If it comes to it I might use the gambit that I'm fixing it for one of my sons friends.

If not I hope the food is nice and they at least give me a bed with a nice view lol
