The negative effect on the climate is being exaggerated by the growing use of bicycles. Vehicles having to slow down (wasting kinetic energy) and then have to accelerate to pass the bicyclists, using more fuel.
If you can maintain your momentum you use much less fuel.

Cyclists also breathe harder hence producing more carbon dioxide so the answer is: stay at home, don't drive and just get fat watching day time tv and putting stress on the NHS. It is a no win situation really so I will keep my car and carry on cycling in my spare time.

Cyclists eat more cake too. Extra deliveries to cake shops; extra electricity being burnt at the cake factory.
Research (by me, 10 minutes ago) shows that cyclists eat more burgers too; so more methane farting cows in the fields eating grass which would otherwise be absorbing CO2, probably.
Real cyclists drink whisky, which although distilled in Scotland, is put in bottles some of which are air freighted in from China (and that IS a fact - I've seen them).

Faulty research here. Fewer cows in the fields if cyclist numbers increase. Where's the beef going to come from?

Good point! But it's supply and demand, those clever farmer types don't like having cows in their fields just to chew the grass and leave cow pats everywhere. They have to know that some greedy cyclist somewhere is going to want a slice of cow at some point in the future. So they have more cows now, to supply future demand.

Take one home!
It'll keep the grass short and what comes out the rear is good for growing

The negative effect on the climate is being exaggerated by the growing use of cars. Vehicles having to slow down (wasting kinetic energy) and then have to accelerate due to other cars, using more fuel.
If you can maintain your momentum you use much less fuel.

Ban all other vehicles... apart from mine

Hmmm, not sure the original post is accurate .... This mornings commute into town I had several cars tucked in behind me drafting me ... Surely the free ride they were getting saves energy ?

perhaps a move away from fossil fuel and a move towards manure as a new energy resource.
Heavy investment plenty of roses and load of old bullocks is the way forward.
