I got some Shimano SPD pedals with flats on one side for my 3 week old Langster and today I got a pair of Specialized Tahoe MTB cycle choes and have just fitted the cleats.

A little practise whilst holding onto the shed then a quick couple of miles through the traffic ridden roads of SW London and it's been OK.

I have adjusted the clips to their loosest setting but I have been practising for ages by trying to keep my feet on the pedals as much as possible and then doing the unclip movement when I really needed to put a foot down.

Seems to have paid dividends as it was almost second nature but feeling the extra boost by having the feet attached to the pedals on the up stroke is a revelation.

Cheers.
