Thinking of a Garmin 200.....

Sorry if all this has been discussed before.... just humour me if it has

I currently use an app on my blackberry to use with Strava, it works well but I have to keep the back-light off to preserve battery life so doesn't motivate me whilst actually on the bike....... So I'm thinking of the above as it seems to do everything I need and I can justify the cost of it (I can promise..... just don't tell Mrs V)

My questions are....

Does it connect wirelessly to Strava or do I have to use a usb cable? Strava site is a bit vague on what can use the Garmin connect

If I have to export a file through a usb lead I might consider looking at the cheaper Bryton 20 as the Garmin would be no easier than the Bryton

And does it do everything I need (or will need in the future....) don't think I will need heart rate etc just want to see my speed, pace and distance whilst cycling and then upload easily to Strava.....

Please don't suggest I wait until I can afford a better model because that will start me looking, wishing, wanting and finally buying and cannot justify extra cost (but I can the 200:whistle: £72 on Amazon)

Thanks for any input

Your choice

You need to decide before purchase what you want, and are likely to want in the future.

Thanks for fast reply... after another glance I realised that it probably didn't connect wirelessly.

I think it will do most things I need and Bryton 20 doesn't appear much cheaper so will probably take the plunge and get one soon....

I have the Bryton, Merlin cycles have it with heart rate monitor for 80 quid. can also connect a cadence/speed sensor to it. decathlon have a compatible one for 17 quid.Bryton doesn't do a bread crumb trail, Garmin 200 does but won't take other sensors. can pick up the higher Bryton models on eBay pretty cheap sometimes too

I got the 200 at the start of Summer, and to be honest it fulfils my needs. I like to know how far, how fast etc, and it's great to upload via USB to Strava (other cycling record systems are available...), just to see where I've been, and it also allows breadcrumb routes to be downloaded to it.
I have no interest in either my heart rate, or cadence, and have no need for a map since most smartphones give you this, so perfect for me..

Ive got the old 205 (look on the bay of fleas as there are some real bargains on these models) but it is basicaly a 200.

The garmin connect to your pc via usb, this also charges it and allows you to download / upload routes.

I use Ride with Gps and Strava.

you wont regret buying a 200.
