I'm thinking about bringing the bike on Easy Jet to france or even spain for the odd weekend.

Might be expensive, but what's the point of having an expensive bike?

An easy jet flight to the south of france would take about 3 hours and cost about 40 quid each way. Go to a town with a nice ride from the airport to town so you can maximise the sunday ride.

You know what? That's a small price to pay for a stress free weekend of pure cycling.

Airports are usually on nasty roads, so do your research and you could have decent ride into a town of your choice, wolf whistling the spanish chicks. Be careful of the drivers, I once hired a car in spain and it was like star wars.

If you've prebooked a hotel, you can get there what time you want... you might get 150k in on the saturday. A meal in the evening will be more nutritious and cheaper than the harvesters we stop off in in this country after a ride. In the evening, go to a bar, and when the chicks know you're a cyclist they'll be all over you - in Spain they make cyclists into lords, believe it or not.

Next morning, if they've got a buffet breakfast, literally fill your boots with food. Get some cab numbers in case your bike breaks on the way back to the airport.

300k without having to worry about rain, for 150 quid. Should be done at least twice a year.

Yenners, I just tried the easy jet site, and you can get a flight from glasgow to grenoble next weekend for 64 quid.

I know you come from liverpool, but in case the 6 twillion scottish people who live on this site might be reading, well I just wanted to be relevant. It was either scotland or birmingham.

I've taken a bike on easy jet a couple of times no problem.

I am actually considering this i.e. a guaranteed weekend of arid insect free non-rain cycling - and a decent pint of strong lager, in the country which it was brewed in.
