...... Today I smashed my pb on my usual 22k route. I've put it down to the following....

I was in the big cog on the front a lot more, only using the small cog for inclines.

I was out of the saddle a lot more on some of the inclines and found I could get in a good rhythm when I sat back down.

I'm not scared of going fast down hill and can push hard on the declines.


Felt really good today 22k 48 mins = a happy wigbank.

Although compared to the guys I was riding with, I should still change my user name to fat kid at the back!!
 
One thing I've learned recently is that drag from looser fitting clothing makes quite a difference. I've been wearing tights for the past few months, but a looser fitting Altura jacket on top. Two weeks ago, when we had that brief spell of mild weather, I went out in a snug fitting cycling top and improved my PB average speed by about 5%. I'll be going out naked next, see how that affects my times. :stop:

FYI Cogs at the back (chain) rings at the front :thumbsup:
