The ride in to work this morning has been "educational" if nothing else.
Given that it’s a damp, cold, crappy day the puncture at the top of the hill was almost to be expected. It did however give me the opportunity to learn some valuable lessons.
1. Tyre levers are much, much easier to use when they are actually in your saddle bag, rather than on the workbench in the shed.
2. After replacing your wheel it's fairly important to close the little lever that opens your brake caliper, otherwise the brakes don’t work.
3. Realising the importance of 2. only as you approach the traffic lights at the bottom of a hill is not good.
4. A 15 stone man on a quickly moving bike with no brakes, approaching the back of a stationary Ford Focus does scream like a girly.
As I said - Very Educational.
