The info has been around as pretty certain rumour for a couple of months now.
Apparently he waived the B sample test, but BC still held off the announcement until after the Tour when there would be fewer headlines.
It was an out of competition test after a tip-off to BC from the manager of Endura or Rapha or someone due to non-believable performance in races.

There were also rumours of a second, higher level rider testing positive.

.... or until the full process was complete. Britain's anti-doping agency doesn't release incomplete results. It's not necessarily a conspiracy and it's not as if he was a rider in any way connected with Tour.

No conspiracy, full process followed before being announced including the right to appeal timescale.

Move along, no conspiracy here.....

I've known about this for a while now - chose not to bring it on here as there are plenty of other fora where it was discussed and banned.

The real question now that it is official is whether I get to move up a place in an event we rode earlier this year

To be honest, it doesn't surprise me one bit.

I've seen 'minor' stuff happen, but not with independent witnesses who could back me up if reported, so on a hiding to nothing.

Plus I've seen the reaction if stuff is reported (not drugs but cheating in other ways) and the reaction tends to be one of 'shoot the messenger'

Waiving the B sample is pretty much an admission of guilt, and with EPO there isn't much scope for claiming contaminated supplements or whatever. There isn't even much need for deliberation over the length of the ban.
