My secondary school was opposite a field that always had horses in it, and one night some of the kids set a foal on fire then watched it burn to death. I still think of it years later, though I didn't actually see anything, the body was removed before the school buses arrived the next morning. It's probably not the sort of thing you want 1200 11-16 year olds seeing.

Some people are sick (as in mentally disturbed), and some just evil. How you tell them apart reliably I don't know, but I do tend towards just having folk like these put down.
In fact I have a sort of reverse opinion - I think those who commit terrible crimes probably ought to be treated, and if possible rehabilitated, but petty thieves, bullies and vandals need shooting.
