Yes, makes you want to throw up doesn't it!
Years ago when I was a kid, I remember our family doctor relating a similar incident, though this one wasn't cycling-related. She'd gone on a house call to an infant with breathing difficulties, she decided the case was serious and the child should go to hospital at once. Rather than wait for an ambulance, the parents decided to take the child themselves, with the doctor following in her own car. In the middle of town the parents' car stopped and the mother ran out in some distress: apparently the child had stopped breathing. The doctor jammed on the brakes, leapt out of her car and administered kiss-of-life, meanwhile a 'helpful' passer-by said "I'll park your car for you." Baby having been brought round, the doctor looks around for her own car. No car to be seen.
There was at least a happy ending to
that story. (a) the baby made a full recovery, and (b) the doctor's car was recovered by police, a few miles away. The 'helpful' passer-by was never caught...
